Apparently you want to know about me. This page has been the most viewed page on my site, and it is only now getting filled out because of that. – August 26, 2009
My name is R.J. and I’m a writer of humor, horror, romance, fantasy, paranormal, and gay erotica. I have nothing published yet, but I have won awards for a few of my humor essays and a haiku I wrote. I am also an amateur comedian. If I’m performing somewhere, I’ll post updates on the site.
Some Personal Notes:
I was born in early 1978. Currently I am single, and still trying to find Mr. Right. I believe in love and romance and do have hopes that Mr. Right is out there, somewhere. I have a lot of love to give to the right guy. Also, a lot of romance, passion, and sensuality.
I live in N.E. Illinois, and have for most of my life. I have spent time in Phoenix, Arizona and Denver, Colorado. I love to travel, but do not get to do it as often as I would like.
I’m really a city boy trapped in a country boy’s life. Chasing the neighbor’s cows back to their barn and dodging skunks, raccoons, opossums, deer, coyotes, and other woodland creatures is not as much fun as it sounds, especially in the early morning hours. Oh, and watching corn grow is not the miracle it sounds like, either. LOL Don’t get me wrong, I love the country. Being able to see the stars at night while standing in a wide, open space is one of life’s little joys.
Media Whore:
Over the years, I have been in the local newspaper for several different stories, and no, not for anything illegal! I don’t have the articles anymore, but if I can find them online, I will post them.
On April 13, 2000, I appeared as a guest on the Jerry Springer show. You read that right. The title of the show was Love Me or Leave Me. I even got to sit next to Steve, the bald-headed head of security, who now has his own show, during the Q&A session at the end of the show. An audience member outed me for checking him out. Really, could you blame me, though?
You can hear not one, but two drunk calls I made to one of my favorite podcasts, We’re Mean Because You’re Stupid. I’ve been a fan for over a year, but never contacted the show directly, until one drunk night I made a tweet on Twitter asking who wanted a drunk call? The only response was from @Princess_Holly, the co-host. I made the first call and then about two hours later, when even more drunk and on autopilot, I made a second call. The episode is up and you can listen to it here!
And coming soon, I was interviewed by one of my favorite podcaster’s, Tom, aka, Ramble Redhead! I completely dorked, but I had a lot of fun! I’ll post the link to the show when it’s up. Please be kind when listening, as it was my first interview and I was VERY nervous, because I was fanboy geeking while talking with him. Ha ha.
Interests:
I have a whole slew of widely varying interests, too many to list here, but here are a few things I like to do in my spare time:
- Read – I’m a voracious reader and always have been. I mostly read fiction, but read some non-fiction as well. Some of my favorite authors include, but not limited to, are Jim Butcher, Shannon K. Butcher, Stephen King, Janet Evanovich, C.E. Murphy, Jen Lancaster, Dave Barry, Laurell K. Hamilton, Dean Koontz, Christopher Moore, Terry Goodkind, J.D. Robb (Nora Roberts), and Kathy Reichs.
- Listen to music – I have a very eclectic taste in music. I love all kinds, but mostly enjoy punk, dance, industrial, and pretty much every great diva.
- Meet new people – What better way to learn and experience new things than with making new friends.
- Go out with friends – My friends are my life. I love and cherish them dearly. Any chance I get to talk and be with them is a treasure I hold very dear to me.
- Learn – I love to learn new things. One of my hobbies is learning languages. I can hold basic to moderate conversations in Spanish, German, Japanese, Russian, Sign Language, and Arabic. I also know a few words or phrases in about two dozen other languages as well.
- Dance – I love to dance. Dancing makes me feel free and it’s a great way to express and get out emotions that are inside me. I know many different kinds of dances. Anyone care for a spin of the floor?
- Laugh – Laughter truly is one of the best medicines there is. Large daily doses should be required for everyone. Laughter eases stress, brings us joy, and all around makes us feel better.
